The War Room is pleased to offer inner healing and deliverance. We believe that this is integral to the discipleship of every believer and although it is a process that has been long lost as such, must be restored to be common place. It is the first sign that we as believers are told will follow us in Mark 16:17-18.
17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
As a biblical mandate it is not only a sign of the believer, but also a church functioning in the fullness of what Jesus Christ paid for on the cross. Our responsibility as believers is to appropriate the fullness of what Christ paid for in our individual lives and amongst the body corporately.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philipians 2:12-13
The working out of salvation Paul refers to in scripture is the Greek word Sozo and implies, saving, healing and delivering. It is the not just a reference to physical healing, or delivering, but is the biblical reference to Matthew 6:13 where Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, ending with “And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
As believers we are in a constant battle with the enemy of our souls, satan. It is a battle Jesus won on the cross, and the enemy is a defeated foe. Even after salvation we must work this truth out in our own lives and appropriate it. The process of inner healing and deliverance does this.
It is the biblical freeing of the captives (Is 61) from generational bondages, iniquity of the bloodline, witchcraft & the occult, breaking strongholds, closing open doors and claiming the destinies written in the individuals’ books, allowing them to walk in their calling and destinies.
This was a practice of the early church as part of the conversion process, that included period of repentance, cleansing and discipleship. The indwelling demonic in a believer of Christ Jesus, after conversion was a reality for they did not dispute.
Tertullian’s Apologeticum (Defense, written 197 A.D, Ch. 23ff)
“But thus far we have been dealing only in words; we now proceed to a proof of facts, in which we shall show that under different names (god and demon) you have real identity. Let a person be brought before your tribunals, who is plainly under demoniacal possession (daemone agi). The wicked spirit, bidden to speak by a follower of Christ, will as readily make the truthful confession that he is a demon, as elsewhere he has falsely asserted that he is a god. Or, if you will, let there be produced one of the god-possessed (de deo pati), as they are supposed, ….if they would not confess, in their fear of lying to a Christian, that they were demons, then and there shed the blood of the most impudent follower of Christ…. The truth is… that neither themselves nor any others have claims to deity, you may see at once who is really God, and whether that is He and and He alone whom we Christians own; as also whether you are to believe in Him, and worship Him, after the manner of our Christian faith and discipline. But at once they (the demons) will say, Who is this Christ…is he not rather up in the heavens, thence about to come again… All the authority and power we have over them is from our naming the name of Christ, and recalling to their memory the woes with which God threatens them at the hands of Christ as Judge, and which they expect one day to overtake them. Fearing Christ in God, and God in Christ, they become subject to the servants of God and Christ. So at our touch and breathing, overwhelmed by the thought and realization of those judgment fires, they leave at our command the bodies they have entered… It has not been an unusual thing, accordingly, for those testimonies of your deities to convert men to Christianity (Apol. 23,4-18)
